Painting

Material as utensil and medium

Katherine Tinteren-Klitzke discards the traditional artist’s brush in favour of sticks, pieces of wood, cardboard, scraps of fabric, threads or perhaps a wide paintbrush to paint a picture. She evokes the tactile qualities of cracked, porous, fibrous or brittle surfaces. Textures and structures are translated from one medium into another.

"Painting is the silence of thought and the music of silence." Orhan Pamuk, My Name is Red
